Modelling tools of FSE have proliferated however, there has not been a transfer of knowledge and understanding from developer to user.
Understanding traditional fundamentals of fire etc. insufficient to fully exploit these tools.
Must have at least a rudimentary understanding of the theoretical basis supporting the model.
? an understanding of model capabilities and limitations is essential.
Otherwise tools become BLACK BOXES producing magic numbers and exciting 3-D colour graphics and client satisfying virtual reality imagery.
Traditional courses for the FSE are woefully inadequate as modelling is hardly mentioned e.g. Model Fire Curricula.
