Comments on MPS
For suppression system as opposed to extinguishing system
- Test must be conducted for 3 hour test duration - not 30 minutes
- If liner was installed in test cell could MPS be followed without damaging the liner before extinguishing system is allowed to be activated ?
- Water Mist system used did not meet MPS temperature limits. However liner was not breached so was structural integrity demonstrated ?
- MPS divorces suppression system from detection system
- Water mist system needs to be qualified with detection system
- It is considered that 2/3 by volume is an unnecessarily large fire load.
- The major fire for a suppression system is not the 30 minute fire trial, but extinguishing the fire after the test has been completed.
- This will be analysed after the the completion of the trials campaign
- Some smoke observed leaking from compartment during trials
- MPS needs to include tests for smoke/gases that could escape to cabin to ascertain whether this is a problem for any agent
