The SMARTFIRE Interactive CFD Engine is the component that actually computes the simulation conditions in all of the mesh cells. The SMARTFIRE CFD Engine is fully interactive, allowing the simulation to be halted at any point and configuration options to be changed or data analysis/visualization to be performed. The CFD Engine is responsible for creating results data, graphs, run-time visuals, exporting data to EXODUS, and for presenting monitoring data to the user. Bookmark and Restart capabilities allow a user to perform research into optimal control strategies without the fear of losing valuable simulated time.

The CFD Engine of SMARTFIRE is built on robust numerical algorithms and is designed to be future proof. The numerical engine also incorporates a whole host of interaction tools including monitoring and plot-line graphs, 2D slice visualizations, data explorer, function solver, results output and many configuration options that can all be accessed by simply halting the CFD processing.
